Dear Colleagues and friends,
You may recall our call for voluntary donations following the devastating multiple earthquakes that affected many people in Türkiye and Syria.
We are pleased to inform you that following your very generous contributions, we were able to donate an amount of USD $40.000.- (Forty Thousand US Dollars)
This contribution was possible through your contributions of $30.000,- and an additional $10.000,- that was generously donated to us by the United Nations Federal Credit Union.
After reviewing different options to bring direct relief to the victims of these terrible natural disasters, the UNFSU Council agreed with the proposal to donate $20.000 to the World Food Program and $20.000,- to the UN High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR)
Recognising that the plight of people in Syria demanded increased attention, your donations have primarily targeted the neediest communities.
Please find attached two letters thanking us for your generosity and an outline of how your donations have helped the victims.
We are extremely grateful to all of you who have donated to this worthy cause. Our donations were not just about providing critical aid to the people affected. It was also very much a symbol of our solidarity and gratitude for our colleagues at both UNHCR and WFP, who are providing much-needed assistance on the ground.
As the UNFSU, we know as no other what working in the field means, and therefore, we wish to express our deep appreciation for all the people helping in these difficult circumstances.
